February is the #ILOVEMYCHURCH challenge!
Already, this month, Little Prairie has begun the important work of discussing Teens and Mental Health with a presentation from Josiah Horn, LICSW. This was an incredible night of empowering information and questions by parents, grandparents, and youth. I am so proud of Little Prairie for beginning this important conversation!
And yesterday, I sat at James Gang Coffee House for more nearly five hours as people came and visited during my "Coffee with the Pastor" afternoon. We had hard conversations, life giving conversation. We talked about missions, about personal grief, the future of the church, worship, politics, coffee, busy schedules... All of it was about connecting, growing and dreaming.
Which brings me to today... Today! Today women from Little Prairie organized an online support campaign to encourage a friend having breast cancer surgery today. Today, women and men, all over our community are praying for and thinking of, wearing pink to support their friend. This is how the Kingdom of God grows. It grows by people caring enough to show love and support. It grows because people stand up for and stand next to those suffering. It grows when we love.
So today I wear pink. I wear pink to stand in love with those standing in love, not because the woman having surgery for breast cancer today goes to Little Prairie, but because I stand with love. Because more love is more love.
And yes, my dog is wearing pink.
John 13:35 - "But everyone will know you are my disciples by your love for one another."
#ILOVEMYCHURCH because they love one another and they love others!
What do you love about your church?
