We communicate through stories. Just watch two sportsmen have a conversation. What do they do? They share their stories. The more they share their stories, the more open the lines of communication become. Have you ever noticed this in life? If you want to begin a conversation with someone, stories often open the door. When it comes to sharing our faith, our first reaction is one of fear. This comes from images of some guy standing on a street corner with a megaphone shouting at people as they walk by. (Probably not the most effective method). Or maybe you have fears of someone becoming confrontational, and asking you questions you don't know the answers to. Or maybe we are afraid the other person might become offended and never speak to us again. All these fears can be legit, but I find people are often more ready to talk than we realize. The key, our story.God has placed people in our lives we can relate to - people who know our story or maybe have even lived through it for themselves. God wants to use us and our story in the lives of those around us, in the lives of people just like us. We all have a story we can share, and I believe, as we open up and share our story, others will want to join in as well.We don't need to have "it all figured out" in order to share the story. God wants to use you right where you are, as you are, to help share the story of what he is doing in your life and in our world. So, what is your story? How have you been growing? What have you been learning? What challenges have you been facing? How has your faith made a difference in your life? These questions all help us think about our story and help us think about how we might look for opportunities to share the story with others.
